Islamabad, Jan 4, IRNA – Editor of Pakistani newspaper on Wednesday described as legitimate the warning by Iran’s army chief to US aircraft carrier.

Talking to IRNA, Zahid Malik, chief editor of daily ‘Pakistan Observer’ said that when sovereignty of any country is undermined then it has a right to react.

Commander of Iran’s Army Major General Ataollah Salehi has warned the US aircraft carrier not to return to the Persian Gulf region.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the military march held in Iran’s southern waters he said “the Islamic Republic of Iran will not repeat its warning.”

The US carrier, patroling the area of naval drills, was identified by an Iranian warplane.

Iran’s army commander also said the country will not adopt any irrational move but it is ready to severely react against any threat.

Zahid Malik expressing his opinion said that Iran is an independent country and its sovereignty must be respected.

The journalist said that there is no other view to that the west will take Iran’s warning seriously.

The editor said Iran is a major country of the region and has been playing a vital role for the stability of the region. “Iran’s opinion is being respected in many countries of the world,” said the senior journalist.

Zahid Malik was of the view that sanctions are useless against Iran and cannot stop development in the Islamic Republic. He said that Iran is not dependent on foreign countries and is fully capable of surviving indigenously.

The editor added that sanctions have strengthened Iran’s progress as the country is self sufficient in all fields.

He pointed out that Iran is an important country of the region and cannot be isolated by building pressure.
